PI Meeting, 22-24 March 2011

The next Bering Sea Project Principal Investigator meeting will be held 22-24 March 2011 in Anchorage, most likely at the Hotel Captain Cook. Further details will appear here in the coming months.

March tends to be a great time of year to be in Anchorage. Winter's grip begins to loosen as the days grow longer and the temperatures slowly warm. So please mark your calendars -- we hope you'll be able to join us at the 2011 Bering Sea Project PI Meeting!

About Anchorage

Anchorage is a cosmopolitan city with all the amenities you would expect in a city of 300,000 people. Restaurants, museums, and shops are just a few blocks from the Hotel Captain Cook. The Alaska Native Heritage Center is an exciting place where all people can come to expand their understanding of Alaska's first people. The newly remodeled and expanded Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center features permanent and traveling exhibits of art, history, and science.

skiing on the Chester Creek TrailEven with all the modern conveniences of a large city you can get a taste of the Alaska outdoors right outside your hotel. Stroll, jog, or ski the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail or Chester Creek Trail, each accessible just 3 blocks from the Hotel Captain Cook. The Muncipality of Anchorage grooms these lit, multi-use trails for cross-country skiing in the winter and early spring.

The Coastal Trail offers views of the front range of the Chugach Mountains as well as Mount Susitna and Mount McKinley (at 20,320', the highest peak in North America). The Chester Creek Trail passes through neighborhoods and parks as it winds eastward toward the Chugach. (photo courtesy Traviss)
