BSIERP Development

Bering Sea Integrated Ecosystem Research Program

The Board reviewed two fully developed proposals in spring 2007:

  • Bering Sea Trophic Understanding and Climate Change (BTU), headed by Mike Sigler of NOAA-National Marine Fisheries Service
  • Study of Eastern Bering Sea Ecosystem Dynamics (SEaBED), headed by Andrew Trites of the University of British Columbia

The strongest parts of each proposal were combined into what is now BSIERP. BTU will be a backbone, complemented with the local + traditional knowledge (LTK) and patch dynamics components of SEaBED.
